Bex Smith is the Global Executive Director of Women’s Game for COPA90, the world’s largest independent football media business. Prior to transitioning into the business side of sport, Bex enjoyed an illustrious career as a professional football player captaining New Zealand at two World Cups and two Olympics. At club level she won everything there was to play for winning a coveted treble comprising of the UEFA Champions League, German League, and German Cup with VfL Wolfsburg. All whilst earning herself degrees in Economics, Spanish, an MBA and Masters in Psychology.

Her first role in the business side of sport was with FIFA as the Competitions Manager of the Women’s World Cups and Strategic Planning. She also Co-Founded and Executive Produced JAMAA Productions who are dedicated to using the power of film and media to tell stories of athletes who are often underrepresented in mainstream media. JAMAA’s work ignites fires, impacts cultures and amplifies important conversations on subjects that truly matter.

Bex’s impressive professional experience on and off the field have led to her holding a number of Board positions in internationally influential organisations such as the Isokinetic Medical Group and other private companies. In addition to being an impeccable athlete and heavyweight sports business executive Bex also speaks four languages; English, German, Spanish and Swedish.

In this sixth episode of In Her Corner, we’ll talk to Bex about why building an alluring brand for women’s game is so essential for growing its popularity around the globe and the invaluable lessons she has learned in establishing herself as a Global Gamechanger on and off the field.
