Mie Øestergaard – Episode 36

Mie Øestergaard is an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Consultant and Strategist, who specialises in working collaboratively with organisations to implement new initiatives to increase diversity and help create more inclusive cultures and industries.

She created Tackling Racism, a TV series on Sky Sports News. Mie began her career with the Jason Roberts Foundation and Rio Ferdinand Foundation, before opting to become a freelance consultant in 2016, working with Women in Football, Aspire Charity, Football Black List, BCOMS and Refresh Sports. Mie has a broad skillset around equality, diversity and inclusion, business development and communication campaigns and has also worked as the Race and Equality Manager at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. In August 2021, Mie moved to New York City to undertake a Masters at New York University. 

In this episode of In Her Corner, we talk to Mie about her life and career journey, the sobering highs, and lows of working in diversity, equity, and inclusion, the value of each of us being introspective about challenging our own privilege. And why recent changes in the sports industry have given her hope for a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow.
