Stephanie Corker – Episode 20
Stephanie Corker is an Account Director at Wasserman, a global sports, entertainment and culture marketing agency with expertise in creating connections between brands, sports properties, talent and customers. Having worked in the sports marketing, events and sponsorship industry over the last 10 years, Stephanie has honed her craft in developing campaigns, executing large scale sporting events delivering hospitality programmes, managing sponsorship projects and contractual rights for global brands such as NFL, Infiniti, Aston Martin, Red Bull and Emirates NBD.
Aside from being an outstanding sports marketing and events professional, Stephanie is extremely passionate about creating a more inclusive workplace and sports industry. Stephanie is a proud founding member of Wasserman’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Council, Co-chair of Women’s Committee and Co-chair of D&I EMEA Subcommittee. She uses her passion for D&I to drive positive change based on her own lived experiences in witnessing and standing against the injustices in society and the sports industry, which have had a marked impact on some of her close friends and colleagues. As part of Stephanie’s continued pursuit for driving tangible and equitable change in the workplace, she launched an initiative called Hands Up Lean In at the and the wider sports industry’s education in becoming active agents for driving forward gender parity and equity. Hands Up Lean In’s primary purpose is to bring people together from across the industry to discuss difficult and awkward topics with the goal of working towards creating positive solutions. A self-professed egalitarian Stephanie has recently partnered with friend and fellow sports industry professional, Faïna Msellem, in order to create a community called Lived Equity, which aims to provide a safe and inclusive platform for diverse professionals and allies to be able to do the work that matters. And to help integrate D&I into how organisations do business.
In this episode of In Her Corner we talk to Stephanie about her journey to becoming an ally, how we can all create more equitable experiences for underrepresented groups in sport and society, as well as the importance of business leaders taking visible ownership and accountability for embedding diversity, equity and inclusion as a key part of how companies operate and shape their culture.
