Andrea Corbett – Episode 14</strong>
Andrea Corbett is a British Champion Bodybuilder and Performance & Mindset Coach, with a particular focus on supporting women to build their resilience using her unique B.O.U.N.C.C.E™️ Forward method. The method strengthens and aligns their mind, body and soul. The aim is for each woman to thrive and rise above their challenges, feel optimistic and confident, so they can be, do and have all that they desire and deserve.
Before becoming a Body Builder and Performance Coach Andrea Corbett had spent 15 years working in education until she found herself at a breaking point. In 2015 she was diagnosed with a mental health illness, at the time when she was more focused on what was important to everyone else before herself. She was advised to use the gym to manage her health, she took it a few steps further and set a goal to begin her journey to become a bodybuilder. She was the UKBFF 2018 British Women’s Physique Bodybuilding Champion and competes internationally as an IFBB Pro Elite figure bodybuilder.
In 2016 Andrea started to make changes to her life by turning her pain into her passion and was soon able to prosper both mentally and financially from her actions. She became the founder of FOCUS CIC and the Youth Fitness Mentoring Programme, both addressing the issues with physical and mental health in young people. During the same time, she qualified as a personal trainer. Andrea is also a public speaker, Mental Health First Aid and is a mental health ambassador for MQ Mental Health, Time to Change, as well as a member of the Mind Physical Activity Advisory Board.
In this fourteenth episode of In Her Corner, we talk to Andrea about black female identity, how she deals with the stigma of being a female bodybuilder and how fitness and exercise have helped Andrea overcome challenges with her mental health.
