Cari Sekendur is the Principal & Creative Director of Butter Studio, a design firm based in New York that shapes the way people see, feel, and make decisions about brands. Butter has a particular focus on creating brand identities, websites, and apps for game-changers in sports and athletics, especially those that are pushing forward equity for women and other underrepresented identities.

 Cari’s approach is a balance of research, writing, and tactical business sense, skills informed by her experience handling marketing and operations for fast-growing startups in New York City, Chicago, and Berlin.

 She has led campaigns in visual design, art direction, and UI/UX design for a wide range of companies, including Nike, Viacom, Other Half Brewing, and Morgans Hotel Group, and her work has been recognised by AIGA’s Eye on Design, HYPEBAE, and It's Nice That, amongst many other esteemed creative industry experts and editorial publishers.

 Cari is proudly queer, a recreational boxer and soccer player, and is passionate about giving voice to communities underrepresented in the mainstream. 

In this episode of In Her Corner, we talk to Cari about the importance of having women in leadership roles in the sports and creative industries, overcoming gender stereotypes in business and how Cari and her team use their lived experiences to create fresh perspectives and brand identities for women’s sport.
